Emergency Preparedness Initiative

TRAINING LED BY REAL-WORLD EMTs

Building the confidence to step forward when it matters most.

The first few minutes in an emergency are often the ones that matter the most. Our free, scenario-based training moves beyond the classroom, helping schools, parents, and seniors gain real-world emergency response skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.

our gap

In New Jersey, ambulance response times can average up to 22 minutes, despite the state’s recommended average response time of 15 minutes. During those critical minutes, immediate action by bystanders can mean the difference between life and death. EPI focuses on communities with longer ambulance response times, making emergency preparedness education more accessible, engaging, and interactive. Rather than relying on passive lectures alone, our immersive, scenario-based trainings place participants in realistic emergency situations where they must assess, decide, and respond as if the emergency were actually unfolding. This hands-on approach builds not only knowledge, but also the confidence to take action before professional help arrives, creating communities where more people are prepared to respond when it matters most.

our mission

In a medical emergency, the single most critical factor is often the person already on the scene. While many bystanders have the knowledge needed to help, they often lack the confidence to act. Emergency Preparedness Initiative (EPI) bridges this gap through immersive, scenario-based trainings that simulate real-world emergencies, giving participants the opportunity to respond as if the situation were real and build confidence through practice. Founded by EMTs who witness these critical moments firsthand, EPI is dedicated to transforming passive bystanders into confident, prepared lifesavers through hands-on, realistic training. In a medical emergency, the single most critical factor is often the person already on the scene.
